The Philmont Community Day Committee is pleased to announce that Elvis Presley (well, a most excellent impersonator, anyway) will make an appearance from 7 to 8:30 PM Saturday, June 29 on a stage to be set up at the Philmont Rod and Gun Club. After Elvis' performance, Philmont Community Day will once again culminate with a huge fireworks show, also at the club.
Another new event this year will be the Firehouse 5K at 9:00 AM, which will start at the Philmont Fire House and end at the Mellenville Firehouse (transportation provided by Johnston's Bus Garage). Other activities planned for throughout the day include a tractor pull, a car show at noon sponsored by the Columbia Cruisers, a parade, fishing derby, baseball game for youth and police officers, and childrens activities.
Vendors who wish to set up a booth are welcome, there is a $10 fee for for-profits, and educational or community booth space is available for free. For more information, or if you would like to secure a booth, donate to the committee or volunteer to help, please call Chairman Dick Howard at (518) 672-7322 or (518) 653-0108. Donations are needed and will be acknowledged, and checks can be made out to the Philmont Community Day Committee, PO Box 822, Philmont, NY 12565.
