Resolution #2, 2021 | Philmont Creates the Climate Smart Communities Task Force

MARCH 24, 2021

At the regular monthly workshop meeting of the Village of Philmont Board, held via video and teleconference, duly called and held
on the 24th day of March 2021, the following Resolution was proposed and seconded:

Resolution by Mayor Speed, Motion made by Trustee Cropper and seconded by Trustee Gitterman.

CREATION OF THE CLIMATE SMART COMMUNITIES TASK FORCE

WHEREAS, the Village of Philmont took the Climate Smart Communities Pledge in March of 2018; and

WHEREAS, the Village was awarded a NYSERDA Clean Energy grant to cover the costs of implementing specific conservation
measures approved in August 2019 coordinated by members of the public; and

WHEREAS, the next step in the Climate Smart Communities Program is to establish a Climate Smart Communities Task Force; and

WHEREAS, the Climate Smart Communities Task Force should include members of the Village Board and members of the public; and

WHEREAS, the Village sent notice to the public looking for members of the public interested in serving on the Climate Smart Task
Force and received 5 responses of interest from members of the public; and

WHEREAS, 5 members of the public have agreed to serve on the Climate Smart Task Force with the Clean Energy grant coordinator
serving as Chair; and

WHEREAS, the Climate Smart Communities Coordinators are Village Board members who shall serve as liaisons between the
governing body and the Climate Smart Communities Chair and shall have a commitment to local climate action; and

WHEREAS, the Climate Smart Communities Chair position shall serve as liaison among task force members and shall chair all Climate
Smart Task Force meetings and shall have a commitment to local climate action, good communication and organizational skills,
demonstrated ability to motivate volunteers and the ability to manage relationships among volunteers.

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Village of Philmont hereby establishes the Climate Smart Task Force with the following members
and positions:

Brian Johnson & Debra Gitterman – CSC Coordinators
Tom Paino – CSC Chair
Diana Toyas — Member of the Public
Elizabeth Angello — Member of the Public
Ruth Bruns — Member of the Public
Candace Christiansen — Member of the Public
Susan Mitchie — Member of the Public

Upon the question of the foregoing Resolution, the following Village Board Members voted “Aye” or “Nay” for said Resolution:

The Resolution, having been approved by a majority vote of the Village Board, was declared duly adopted by the Mayor of the
