Village Board
Philmont is governed by a mayor and four trustees.
Terms & Elections

Elections are held in March. All positions have a two-year term. Two trustee positions are on the ballot every year and the mayor is elected on odd-numbered years.

Role of the Board

The board represents the legislative and executive branch of the government management of the village. The Mayor does not vote except in instances of a tie.

  • All meeting times are subject to change. Please call ahead to verify.

PLEASE NOTE: The Village of Philmont welcomes public comment at Village Board meetings on the 2nd Mondays of the month at 7PM in the Village Hall at 124 Main Street. In order to be recognized to speak at a village board meeting, please email clerk@philmont.org or call 518-672-7032 before 12:00pm on the the first Friday of the month. Residents will be called on to speak during Public Comment in the order in which their request were received by the clerk. The Village Hall can be accessed via a wheelchair-accessible ramp to the right of the Village Office on Main Street and from an entrance to the 2nd Floor of the Village Hall on Maple Avenue to the left of the Fire Station doors.

2026 VILLAGE ELECTIONS
Open Positions: 2 Village Trustees
Doug Cropper is running for re-election. Debra Gitterman is stepping down.
If you want to run for office, pick up a petition at the Village Office.
Petitions with 50 valid signatures are due by February 15th.
Because Saint Patrick's Day falls on Tuesday, elections this year will be held on Wednesday, March 18th.
