Watch a Recording of the Kick-Off Presentation for the Redesign of Summit Lake Waterfront + the Philmont Community Center, and the Canal Street Mill

White words written across an image of a lush green forest of trees.

In this presentation, the two firms selected by the BOA working groups—Rice+Lipka Architects and Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects and Planners—advance designs for the following two strategic sites that are owned by the Village of Philmont:

Summit Lake. The first site, situated on Summit Lake, will rethink public waterfront access, including new landscape, playground, and a community center.

Canal Street Mill. The second site reimagines the area around the site of the historic former Aken Knitting Co Mill No 3 located on Canal St as a public plaza providing a new access point to the unique natural features adjacent to the High Falls Conservation Area.

The designs by Rice+Lipka and Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects and Planners incorporate the community’s ideas for these two sites. Below are program checklists for each site:

Summit Lake and the Community Center (BOA Subarea 1):

6 categories of list, center justified

For Canal Street Mill | Aken Knitting Co. Mill No 3 (BOA Subarea 2):
